Course Curriculum
Getting Started
Get started with an introduction to the tutorial, reference photograph, parts of the cowboy hat, and materials used.
Draw the Crown and Hat Band
Begin by learning how to sketch the outline for the crown and hat band, the crown crease, and details on the hat band.
Draw the Brim
Next, see how to break the brim down into simple shapes as you draw the front, each side, and finally complete the brim.
Draw the Cowboy's Head
Then, discover how to draw the ear, the outline for the hair and eyes, and add details to the eyes of the cowboy.
Shade the Hat Band and Crown
After that, draw along with me as I add realistic shading to the hat band, the front of the crown, and then the rest of the crown.
Shade the Brim
Next, learn how you have to add different values to different parts of the brim, like the sides and next to the ear, and then finish the cowboy hat.
Shade the Cowboy's Head
Finish up by lightly shading the cowboy's face, then adding additional details to the eyes, ear, and hair to complete the drawing.
