Shade Above the Dog’s Nose
Now, let’s do this inner middle fold to the right of the nose. Using an HB pencil, place a very slight cast shadow where the overlap is. On the big fold going over the top of the nose, I’m going to erase this guideline in preparation for drawing the fur here next.
As I add the hairs on this fold, I’m putting a little twist to them along this edge just to help show the coil shape of the fold. Also, keeping the shading to the edges contributes to its cylindrical form. Now, this dog has a spot on this fold just above his nose, aligned with his right nostril. Start by sketching the outline of the spot. Then shade inside. Switch to a 2B for some darker tones.
